Run the day properly. Not a spreadsheet.

Democratising sports event management: a club of eight runs the same system as a national body.

You know the day: a printed bracket with crossings-out, three mats asking who is next, a result that got lost somewhere between the referee and the laptop. This is the other kind of day.

The day, as it runs.

  1. 07:30

    Desk opens.

Badges were printed last night. Scan, sign, and if your sport weighs in, weigh in.

  2. 09:00

    Brackets freeze.

Entries became brackets on their own, each with its place on the floor. From here nothing shifts under anyone.

  3. 09:15

    The floor runs.

Each mat sees its match and its next. Athletes see how far away they are. A result is one tap.

  4. 16:40

    Final call.

The last result goes in. Placings are on every athlete's page before the hall is swept. The poster prints, if anyone wants one.

The floor knows who is next.So do you.

One board for the room. The decisions that need a person are in a list, with the fix next to each. Everything else runs without you.

What goes wrong.What happens instead.

  • The venue's wifi drops.

Every tablet keeps working and sends when it can.

  • Somebody weighs in heavy.

The entry moves class on the spot. The bracket follows.

  • A referee taps the wrong name.

Undone exactly. The bracket is a running total, not a state.

  • A bracket has two entrants.

It waits in your list of decisions, with the fix beside it.

  • Two brackets want the same athlete.

The schedule keeps a person on one mat or table where it can, and tells you where it cannot.

  • The results are wanted on a wall.

The poster prints. The board is a link.

Wifi dies.Tournaments don't.

Every device keeps its own copy. Check-in, results and the draw keep going with no signal.
